EMERGENCY SERVICES TO COMPETE IN BLUE LIGHT BREAKOUT CHARITY FUNDRAISER

Published at:

Emergency service personnel are to ‘escape’ from the Isle of Wight in an upcoming charity fundraiser entitled ‘Blue Light Breakout’.

On 12th September 2019, teams from the police, fire and ambulance services on the Island will go ‘on the run’ for a 50 hour period, as they travel as far away from the sandy shores of the Isle of Wight as possible – with zero planning.

The 3 teams, each consisting of 2 off-duty personnel from the respective blue light service, will be competing to raise money for local charity ‘The Wight Brainy Bunch’. Each competitor is giving up their free time to take part in the challenge to support Isle of Wight firefighter Mark Grimes, who founded the charity following his diagnosis of a brain tumour in 2015.

The event is supported by Novum Law, Maher Ross and DDC Electronics, along with many other local businesses who have kindly sponsored the event to ensure the teams can be repatriated to the Island following their 2-day challenge. The teams will be tracked throughout with the public encouraged to support and vote for their chosen team via Text Donate.

The winning team will be the pair who travel the furthest in the given time.

To donate simply text your team code (FIREIOW, POLICEIOW, AMBIOW) plus the donation amount (example: FIREIOW 10) to 70085. You can also donate via the website at www.thewightbrainybunch.org.uk.

Any local businesses looking to reach out and sponsor the event, or assist with any other way, can contact the charity by emailing [email protected].
