Yarmouth RNLI Lifeboat launched at 10:32 on Easter Sunday morning (1st April) to go to the aid of a yacht that was taking on water following a collision.
In calm conditions 1 nautical mile south of Beaulieu River, the 39ft sailing yacht with a crew of 2, had collided with a channel marker and holed her bow.
Yarmouth’s All Weather Lifeboat was joined by Hamble Independent Lifeboat, whose crew rigged a salvage pump. A crew member from Yarmouth then readied on board the casualty vessel.
The stricken yacht was escorted to the entrance to the Hamble River, from where the Hamble ILB took the casualty in tow to the lifting dock at Hamble Point Marina.
Yarmouth Lifeboat and her volunteer crew returned to station by 12:27.
