Entries to The Island Car Centre Sandown Sprint – which is to come speeding into The Bay on 20th-21st April 2024 – are to open next Friday (15th December). Taking place on Culver Parade on the 3rd weekend of April, the website for the event has now gone live. As a new feature for this year, a new Race Village will be created at Fort Street and Sandham Gardens, whilst the track has been slightly extended this year with the finish line to be outside The Grand Hotel. Spectators can see all the cars assembled near the main entrance and enjoy getting up close to the cars and drivers. In addition, general admission tickets will now include access to the Race Village, the main Culver Parade viewing area, and the Brown’s enclosure. The closed-road motor racing event – the first to be held on the Isle of Wight in over 50 years – was first staged back in April 2022 this year to great fanfare, with the 2023 event a massive success too. The event’s main sponsor, and also one of the competitors, is Will Nicholls from the Island Car Centre. Will commented;
“The Sprint is a fantastic opportunity to bring motor racing to the Isle of Wight. We now have a great following of people and the crowd gets behind the drivers. I’ll be entering a car again and looking forward to hopefully regaining my title.”
Spectator tickets are available now with adult tickets cost just £10 per day if purchased in advance with an early bird weekend offer. Competitor entries will open at 18:00 on 15th December and can be purchased from the Isle of Wight Car Club Website. Information on the rules and regulations of the Sandown Sprint event can also be found there.
