Southern Vectis is advising customers to check social media and news outlets such as Island Echo for regular service updates this week, with snow forecast for the region.
As previously reported, snow is expected to fall across the Isle of Wight throughout this week with showers on Monday and Tuesday, turning heavier on Wednesday and Thursday. The later half of the week is currently unclear with heavy snow possible – but equally heavy rain.
Nikki Honer, Southern Vectis’ head of communications has said:
“Our services will run as normal whilst it is safe to do so. However, we will modify our routes if necessary – running along main lines and avoiding roads that are blocked or deemed unsafe.
“We will be closely monitoring the weather situation throughout the week, and our team will post regular updates on Twitter and Facebook. We will also notify local media of any changes as and when they happen.
“The aim is to continue providing a comprehensive bus service for those living and working on the island – but it is too early to predict the severity of the weather. Whatever their plans for this week, we urge people to take care – wrap up warm and stay safe.”
