A team from Carter Lauren will arrive on the Isle of Wight from Monday to start establishing facilities including welfare and site office space.
The site at Sandown Esplanade will be made ready for the build, which includes extending the working space out into the carriageway. A number of parking spaces will be revoked to keep the one-way road open during the construction of the hotel.
It was over 3 years ago that Island Echo exclusively reported that the Carlton Hotel would be demolished to make way for a 100-bed Premier Inn.
Geoff Cook, Senior Project and Programme Manager for Whitbread, has said:
“This February, we’re gearing up on site and getting going with the main build. We’ve completed all of the important work to prepare the site and our contractor team will be pushing on with the exciting job of bringing a new Premier Inn up and out of the ground.”
By mid-March the company hope to start piling works to create the foundations for the new hotel and Cookhouse & Pub restaurant.
