2 of Southern Vectis’ most popular bus services are among the nation’s most scenic bus routes, according to a new online poll.
Bus Users UK has nominated the Isle of Wight bus operator’s Island Coaster and Needles Breezer for the prestigious accolade. And voting is now open for those who want to endorse the spectacular routes.
Southern Vectis’ general manager, Richard Tyldsley, has said:
“We are incredibly lucky to be blessed with wonderful coast and countryside here on the Isle of Wight, so I’m not at all surprised these two routes are among the top contenders.
“There are of course other beautiful landscapes across the UK, but we don’t think any other bus routes can compete with these, with the wonderful views on offer.
“Those who travel on our Needles Breezer service have the opportunity to do so on open-top buses during the warmer months of the year – making the experience even more memorable. We’re hopeful those who have journeyed with us along these routes will show their support by voting for us.”
The Island Coaster from Yarmouth to Ryde runs between April and September and journeys through the southern coast – with breathtaking scenery and a number of superb locations like the Needles Landmark Attraction, Blackgang Chine and Dinosaur Isle along the way. Tennyson Down and Alum Bay are also along this popular route.
The Needles Breezer returns to service from 10th March 2018. The route includes the cliff-hugging, dizzy climb from Alum Bay right up to the Needles Battery – high up to where the vistas out to sea are intoxicating. The service also links Yarmouth to Freshwater Bay, Dimbola Museum and Galleries, and Fort Victoria Country Park.
