Both Freshwater Parish Council and the RSPCA are appealing for information following a swan attack at the start of the month.
2 swans located at The Causeway are reported to have been attached by a Springer Spaniel dog on Saturday 5th January at around 15:30.
The RSPCA wish to pursue the matter as the dog owner is said to have just ‘stood and watched’.
The picture above shows the discolouration around the neck where she was grabbed by the dog.
A spokesperson for Freshwater Parish Council has said:
“Please could we kindly ask everyone to keep your dogs on their leads until you get to the area where the bushes start. About 50 meters in. This will offer some protection to all birds that nest and shelter along here”.
Anyone who witnessed the incident can contact the Parish Council on 01983 752000 or the RSPCA on 0300 1234 999.
