Hard frosts, freezing fog and ice is likely to affect the Isle of Wight next week, according to local forecasters IW Met Service.
New Year’s Day is set to be a much brighter day all round, although some cloud is still likely at times. As the day goes on the cloud is expected to break further to end the first day of the year on a fairly clear note.
Although the start of 2019 brings brighter spells it will also bring much colder weather from Wednesday onwards.
Islanders should be aware of the potential for hard night time frosts as well as the risk of some freezing fog in spots across the Isle of Wight.
Later in the week daytime temperatures are expected to only be a few degrees above freezing with 2c to 5c being the maximum. By night, temperatures could be well below freezing with -2c to -5c possible. This could bring some icy conditions to the Island’s roads.
