6 Wight Tri Members ventured across the Solent for the Applemore Triathlon event in Southampton earlier this month.
The event consisted of a 400m pool swim, a 30k bike ride and a 5k run.
In stark contrast to the weekend just gone, the athletes faced very cold conditions with the temperature just 7c coming out of the pool swim.
Islander Dave Sweet took first overall in a time of 56.28, which also clinched him 1st in the Men’s 30-39 category.
Fellow Wight Tri member Stuart Dyer secured 11th overall and 2nd in Men’s 50-59. Dean Haward came home in 39th overall and 10th in the Men’s 40-49 group. Steve Dines took 102 overall and 2nd in the 60 + class.
Janet Fletcher crossed the line in 42nd overall but claimed 1st in the Women’s 40-49 category. Angela Tapster finished in 118th overall and 6th in the Women’s 40-49 class.
The event was very well signed and marshalled and a great event for a season opener.
