Ryde Inshore Rescue have intercepted a drifting boat near to Ryde Pier this afternoon (Monday).
The independent lifeboat service were paged at 11:47 to reports of a 6m boat drifting off Ryde, prompting the swift launch of Ryde Rescue 1.
By 12:08 the lifeboat and her volunteer crew were on scene and quickly took the vessel in tow. It’s understood that the boat, which was unattended, broke free from a mooring in Seaview earlier today.
Ryde Inshore Rescue have thanked Captain Willets of Wightlink’s Wight Ryder 2 catamaran for alerting Solent Coastguard to the situation.
Bembridge Coastguard Rescue Team were also tasked to the incident and took up position on the shore at Ryde.
