They quickly acclimatised to the cold conditions and consistently delivered stages times in the top 10 overall using their Mitsubishi Evo VI rally car.
The 8 stages utilised a combination of the famous racing circuit, pit-lane, paddock, perimeter roads and the fiendishly slippery rally school, to achieve 40 miles of competitive route.
A stellar entry on this national event saw some of the UK’s best drivers competing as the rally is a round of one of the country’s biggest championships. Undeterred by the strength of competition, the Bembridge duo made their way to 10th overall.
Things took an unexpected and unfortunate turn when a broken driveshaft halted their progress on SS7. Unable to continue, they missed the last stage and retired from the event.
The next outing for the Wight Rally Sport team is at Goodwood Motor Racing Circuit in West Sussex for the Southdowns Stages on Saturday 9th February. Spectating is easy and free. Many Islanders are expected to travel across the Solent and make the 30 minute journey to Goodwood next month.
