Police have confirmed that they have bailed 2 people arrested on suspicion of murdering 17-month-old Jayla-Jean McLaren, as investigations into her tragic death continue.
The toddler’s death on Sunday 3rd August has rocked the Isle of Wight community, with an outpouring of emotion for innocent Jayla-Jean.
It was early on Friday 1st August that the young child was rushed from her home on Dairy Crest Drive, Newport to St Mary’s Hospital with serious injuries, later being transferred to Southampton General Hospital by air for specialist treatment.
Sadly, despite the best efforts of all involved, the youngster died in hospital just 2 days later.
Initially arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, a 31-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman from Newport, who had caring responsibility for Jayla-Jean, were re-arrested on suspicion of murder yesterday, as previously reported by Island Echo.
Now, Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has confirmed the couple have been released on conditional bail until 12th November.
