A motorcyclist is being treated by paramedics after a front-end impact with a car, which has led to Police closing The Broadway in Sandown tonight (Saturday).
It was just before 22:00 that emergency services were called to the scene of the smash, involving a Honda CBF 125 motorcycle and a Vauxhall, at the junction of Broadway and Old Reservoir Lane.
The black Vauxhall – which appears to have been emerging onto Broadway – has sustained significant damage in the collision, with the motorcycle ending up on its side on the opposite side of the road.
Paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service, including a critical care paramedic and a rapid response paramedic, are conducting initial assessments and treatment on the injured rider.
Their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening or life-changing at this time.
The driver of the Vauxhall is thought to have escaped injury.
The main road has been closed in both directions between The Heights and Melville Street as Police investigate the incident.
Traffic is diverting locally, including Southern Vectis Route 3 and 8 buses.
Recovery of the vehicles has been arranged.
