ATS Euromaster at Spithead Business Centre in Lake is set to become a Formula One Autocentre as part of a nationwide wind-down of the company’s UK operations.
ATS Euromaster has announced proposals to begin a structured closure of its UK business after efforts to stem financial losses, including the shutdown of 86 unprofitable centres in 2025, failed to return the company to break-even.
The car and van fast-fit firm says it is proposing to sell 35 of its 152 points of sale to Formula One Autocentres and a further 14 sites to S&M Tyres, which trades as Elite Garages.
According to ATS, the Lake site falls under the proposed transfer to Formula One Autocentres and staff are expected to transfer under TUPE regulations on 30th April 2026. However, the transfer of the business is subject to landlord consent.
If completed, 216 employees across 49 sites nationally are expected to move to the new owners under TUPE arrangements.
Nick Harley, Group Managing Director of Euromaster UK, has said:
“Today’s announcement marks an extremely sad and difficult moment for everyone in the company. We recognise the impact this will have on our colleagues, their families, and the communities ATS Euromaster serves, and it is not a decision we have taken lightly.
“Despite the team’s massive efforts to reshape the business, improve financial performance, and secure a sustainable future, a combination of intense market competition, sluggish activity within the sector and rising costs have left us with no viable path forward to a break-even position.”
The announcement follows the closure of ATS Euromaster on South Street in Newport in 2021. That site later reopened as an Elite Garages branch in 2022.
ATS has said that customers and suppliers will be supported through a structured wind-down process to ensure commitments are met and that the transition is handled in an orderly manner.

I agree, after the way I was treated and spoken to I vowed to never use the place again.
true, and the appointment system was a joke. Had me waiting 90 minutes for my tyres and I had to cancel a hospital appointment despite a solid booking! No apology, just “we’re short staffed”, never again.
With Protyre over the road, why go elsewhere.
Protyre all day long for me, great value and friendly
helpful service, that is quite rare thesedays.
the same procure that didn’t torch my tyres up to specifications and wight tyres had to resolve? The same procure who said they couldn’t do my wheel alignment due to needing £300 worth of work that wight tyres managed to do wheel alignment with no issues? Protyre has rep for mugging people off.
You must have had a bad experience, thankfully my
experiences with Protrye have been great on all
occasions.
