UPDATED: The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance has landed in Chale Green this evening (Thursday), where it’s crew are assisting local paramedics and firefighters.
The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service responded to Spanners Close in the rural village at around 16:30 at the request of the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service, where it is understood crews are assisting paramedics in transferring a patient.
The self-funded air ambulance has landed in a field off Chale Lane and is expected to fly the male patient to a mainland hospital.
UPDATED @ 17:45 – The main road through Chale Green (B3399) has been temporarily closed by the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service between Spanners Close and Withers Road to allow the Air Ambulance to land on the grass beside the road.
UPDATE @ 19:00 – The HIOWAA has now taken off from the scene and has transferred the male patient to hospital.
It is reported that the man has suffered from a serious leg injury resulting in an open fracture.
