A 49-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a stabbing on the Isle of Wight last night (Friday).
As first reported by Island Echo, Police rushed to an address on Winton Street in Ryde at around 19:30. Officers, some armed with shields, entered the property known as Tyro House alongside paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service.
A man was soon transferred to an awaiting ambulance and conveyed directly to St Mary’s Hospital under blue lights.
Hampshire Constabulary have this morning confirmed to Island Echo that a man in his 50s received stab wounds to his chest and shoulder during yesterday’s incident. He has since been transferred to Southampton General Hospital where he remains a stable condition.

Police launched a search for the stabbing suspect last night with sweeps carried out along Ryde Esplanade and the pier area, before officers relocated to Wootton Creek.
It is understood that HM Coastguard were tasked to assist Police with their search, but according to Ventnor CRT’s Facebook Page they were stood down en-route with the individual located elsewhere.
An arrest has been made overnight in connection with the stabbing and a 49-year-old woman from Ryde remains in custody on suspicion of attempted murder. She is being quizzed by detectives as the full circumstances of the incident are investigated.
A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary has told Island Echo:
“We were called to an address in Winton Street, Ryde, at 7.21pm last night (20 September), following reports of a serious assault.
“A man in his 50s had suffered stab wounds to his chest and shoulder.
“He was taken to Southampton General Hospital where he remains in a stable condition.
“A 49-year-old woman from Ryde has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. She remains in custody at this time”.
Police remain at the scene this morning.
UPDATE SUNDAY @ 15:45 – 49-year-old Vicki Finton has been charged with wounding with intent.
