Multiple Police officers have descended on an address on Winton Street in Ryde this evening (Friday) – the third time in as many weeks.
5 Police vehicles are currently attending an incident alongside an Isle of Wight Ambulance crew and an ambulance service officer.
The heavy presence has become a regular occurrence recently with a similar response to Winton Street on 31st August – that incident resulting in a woman being rushed to St Mary’s Hospital following a suspected overdose.
Police have been back at the block of flats at least once since then when a situation developed during the early hours one day. The road was cordoned off.
2 Police officers carrying shields have been seen at tonight’s incident, which began around 19:30.
UPDATE @ 20:18 – 1 person – believed to male – has been conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital by ambulance under blue lights. He has allegedly been assaulted.
Police remain in attendance at Winton Street, although the incident is winding down.
Whilst there is not thought to be any threat to the community and the incident has been contained to one address, Police are understood to be looking for a suspect in connection with tonight’s incident.
UPDATE SATURDAY – A 49-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder as a result of last night’s incident at Winton Street.
