A 19-year-old man has sustained a 4-inch slash to his face following a serious assault involving broken glass in Ryde overnight, with a suspect now in custody.
As first reported by Island Echo, an alleyway between Union Street and Church Lane was cordoned off by Police during the early hours of the morning as a result of an assault overnight.
Hampshire Constabulary has now confirmed that officers were called to the scene shortly before midnight last night (Friday) and arrived to find a 19-year-old man from Ryde with a significant facial injury.
It’s said that he was slashed across the face with a piece of glass.
The teen – who was bleeding heavily – was conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital for treatment.
A 28-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm. He remains in custody for questioning.
