A 36-year-old woman from Ryde has been arrested on suspicion of drug driving after being pulled over by Police on the main road through Brading this morning (Monday).
Whilst on patrol, officers stopped a red Vauxhall Corsa on Morton Road after concerns were raised that the driver may be under the influence.
Following the stop, a drugs wipe was conducted at the roadside and a preliminary indication was given of a positive reading.
As a result, the 36-year-old driver was arrested on suspicion of driving a motor vehicle with a proportion of a specified controlled drug above the specified limit.
She has been released under investigation while Police enquiries continue.

I think it’s terrible.
I am under the impression that if a vehicle driver is under the influence of drugs or alcohol, that they would not be insured ?
IE: when you fill out a claim for an accident, am sure it asks if driver was under any influence …
If so then why are these drivers now aware of this, also why do the Police not inform them ??
Sort of similar to the vehicles that drivers modify… body parts, tints, wraps exhaust etc… and if insurance company not told, they too are not insured…
If she is found guilty then would have to inform her insurance company as circumstances have changed since she took out her original policy. If she failed to do this and had an accident
she would not be covered.
Hey. She was stopped and caught. None of your speculation happened.
Omg speculation?
Actually it is fact .
Are you for real?.
I read the response and didn’t read anything that was speculative.
Yes she was stopped and caught , so until proven innocent or guilty we will have too wait and see !!!¡
Tis time, the public was lucky
Argh, so you think it’s alright then…….. idiot. You are as stupid as her. Drink & drug driving is not acceptable. The law should be changed that gives all judges the power to hand out massive fines and ban these selfish, irresponsible drivers for 5 years.
Also people who use ‘recreational’ insurance (not used for commuting) and have accidents on the way to or from work.
Third party insurance always applies, if you have a paid up to date policy. Regardless of alcohol, drugs or car modifications. It also applies if you have no mot, contrary to popular belief. This is stipulated in the road traffic act.
I think it’s really terrible
I think it’s its terrible that she had car keys and unlocked her door and drove. Drug driving kills.
Nonsense ! Didn’t kill her did it.
What’s terrible is she got into her car and drove. Drug driving kills.
I think it’s terrible
This is normal on the island, most drivers under 50 are drugged up loosers…
Please learn to spell! Most of us attended spelling classes, i.e: School.
and those over 50 are drugged up winners!
sooooo angrymy typos are superfluous , if that is the only contribution you have to offer, i’d suggest not to bother. if i had the inclination or temerity to correct my statement i would but ,,, i hAVE MORE PRESSING MATTERS TO attend
Then go and attend them
have you been drinking? or taking drugs? don’t drive please
If only under 50s!!!!
wow thanks for that; i am assuming by your pertinenten and unfounded comment youre a mainlander who is over 50 ‘s shoved up his own Arse
Only a ‘loser’ would make such an ill thought out, and clearly grossly inaccurate statement like that (you). Instead of spouting your constant drivel on here, I’d be inclined to think about spending some time reading a dictionary.
Actually, I think it is quite good that this loser was caught, had she not been she would have probably done it again. Absolute pond life not worth the oxygen they breathe.
Do you not think your judgement is a bit, disproportionate? It’s not like she’s got a gun and running into your school is it? If you ask me, your complete lack of empathy in your deliberation and your utter lack of decent and authoritative observation has left me to conclude that you are not in a sound or fit mindset to have any meaningful impact on any future peace on earth. We would’nt have anyone left because you’d of condemned them to death by deoxygeonation. Thank God your not a real boy
Not really, a car is as lethal as a gun..why should i be empathic towards a person who knowingly endangers life for their own selfish reasons and criminal behavior for both using illicit substances and operating a vehicle whilst not fit to do so.i would be quite content to cull the population of these sorts. perhaps reflect on your own moral code?
Perhaps you should look at your own judgements ? Do you think hmmm
Or killed an innocent family or something!? Crikey, is there no sense of right or wrong here? She was drugged up in charge of a motor vehicle? What was she thinking! Stupid dangerous xxxxx!
Smoked a joint night before to relax then apparently your still high next morning. Dosnt work like that though dose it
ummm yes that’s exactly how it works, cannabis can still present in your bloods up to 30 days later. Just the same as all the morons that go home a drink a couple of bottles of wine and then drive the next day
Am I the only person on the island who doesn’t use drugs?
If you abstain from caffeine and paracetamol you probably are.
I bet your a drinker, that’s a comment that comes from a place of someone who says, oh I’m not a drinker I just like my drink but I dont have a problem. A common misconception among people is the real fact that if alcohol was discovered now, it would be a drug. It kills the brain cells which dont magically grow back. And to think half our country is running on alcohol lol
Should be an instant driving licence suspension until results confirmed.
What’s the matter with these bloody low life waste of space idiots , trouble is there’s hundreds around on the roads every day putting many non drug/drinking people at nigh risk of death or severe impairment.
As for insurance etc these people are the sort not to bother making them a even bigger risk to society
Ban for life is the only deterrent ,as everything else has been tried
it’s getting to look like every driver on this island is on drugs
Clearly stopped by police as driving standard was unacceptable, a drug swipe was positive, no wonder there are so many accidents on the Island, I am very sorry to say the general standard of driving, accidents attributed to drug/alcohol abuse is shameful, I have little doubt the rest of the UK is no better.
However as an Islander reading constant news on IE of such incidents is shocking, lives at risk constantly due to this sort of SCUM.
Just a lottery on the roads as to who will be the next casualty, well done the police, however they are never going to stop this, the courts are over run and the deterrents are non existent. The Island and this country are in a dire situation.
AGAIN. What a surprise. Hope they searched the vehicle !!
Do any of you people that post on this have literally nothing In your own lives to worry about….. apart from others experiences???? How lucky you all are and sad
it’s weird isn’t it, sat at home calling people “pond-life” and “scum” while I’m at work earning their “wages”, and most of them don’t even live on the island hahahaha
Scum
Life ban if guilty
Omg are these people that bloody stupid?? Of course you are, god help you if you hurt or kill anyone whilst under the influence. I don’t actually get it why would you?
Don’t mess about, crush the car
