Premier Inn’s brand new hotel in Lake is set to open in February, it has been confirmed to Island Echo.
Island Echo exclusively revealed the hotel chain’s plans back in January 2014, with ground clearing commencing at the Merrie Gardens site in November last year. Now, 12 months on, the hotel is nearing completion with the first customers expected to be welcomed through the doors in February, around 12 weeks away.
The 80-bedroom hotel is a £6million investment for the company and it will create 25 new jobs.
The new development, which will be the company’s second hotel on the Isle of Wight, will help to generate additional business activity in the local area as customers eat and drink locally and make use of facilities in the nearby towns of Sandown and Shanklin.
The hotel will boast an additional 12 bedrooms compared to the existing Premier Inn at Seaclose in Newport and will have around 80 car parking spaces and 16 cycle spaces.
