National discount retailer Poundland are to close one of their Newport stores next week, Island Echo can reveal.
The former HMV premises opened as 99p stores in November 2013 before converting to Poundland at the end of March last year. Now, just 13 months later, the store is set to close for good.
It is thought the landlord of the High Street property has called time on the lease early, leaving Poundland no option but to close. The future of the large unit remains unclear.
It has been confirmed that the last day of trading will be Saturday 6th May.
No other Poundland stores are affected by the closure, including the original Newport store across the road which is under a lease until 2019.
