Police are urging Islanders to ensure that vehicles are locked and secure following a number of thefts from work vehicles in the Ryde area.
Over £2000 worth of tools were stolen from a van in Ryde on Sunday night, with reports of further tools having been stolen from a van around 3 miles away. Both thefts showed no sign of forced entry and the doors were left ajar following the theft. It has been suggested to the victims that a fob had been used to deactivate the central locking on the vehicles.
Several other vehicle thefts are said to have occurred this week, something Police are investigating.
Anyone who sees anything suspicious, or has information relating to the thefts, is asked to call Police on 101. Information can be given anonymously by phoning the independent Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
