cooplakehillEXCLUSIVE: The mother of a 12-year-old schoolgirl is today warning other parents to be vigilant after an unknown man approached the innocent girl and her friends in a suspicious manner yesterday (Thursday).

A man, said to be in his late 40’s, approached the 12-year-old and three of her friends in the Co-Operative store in Lake at around 08:00, where he asked their ages and where they go to school.

Speaking to Island Echo, the concerned mother – who we are not naming – described how her daughter saw the suspicious character get into a small white pickup van and watched what way the group of friends were walking.

The smart-thinking girl alerted the school as soon as possible and teachers are said to be communicating with the shop and Police and CCTV footage is being gathered.

Although no threats or advances were made, parents in The Bay area are warned to remain vigilant and use this opportunity to remind children of the stranger danger rules.
