OVER 87,000 ISLANDERS NOW PROTECTED AGAINST COVID-19

Published:

Over 100,000 doses of coronavirus vaccine have been administered to Islanders according to the latest available figures.

NHS England data shows that 87,020 first doses have now been administered on the Isle of Wight, with 14,096 people now having received their second dose of vaccine. In the week between 21st March and 28th March, 12,125 vaccinations were given, with 7,850 of those being second doses.

It has been the national view to immunise as many people as possible with the first dose to protect people from the more severe symptoms of COVID-19 – an approach that appears to be working.

Figures from the Office for National Statistics show that 97.7% of those aged over 80 have now received their first dose, with 100% of those aged between 75 and 79 having had their first jab.

In total, on the Isle of Wight, 101,116 vaccination doses have now been handed out. The news comes as people aged between 50 to 54 now have access to vaccinations, and are able to book their appointments.

That is an incorrect statement, not protected but less likely would be more appropriate plus it’s the first shot 2 are required for the full effect and future shots maybe needed

The headline is correct. Protected. For all of you hotheads gobbing off, learn what protected means. The dictionary says “to defend or guard from attack, invasion, loss, annoyance, insult, etc.; cover or shield from injury or danger”

Therefore 87,000 Islanders are PROTECED against Covid-19.

not protected – vaccine still in trial for two years, long term risks unknown, does not offer 100% protection, therefore, possibly protected.

This ‘trial’ date that lots keep spouting is bordering on conspiracy. Forget Covid vaccine for the minute. ALL vaccines for about the last 40 years, after approval for use, enter stage 3 trials it is part of the process. The Covid jabs, yes jabs are also part of stage 3 trials. Moderna stage 3 finishes October this year so not sure where you are getting 2 years from. The vaccines are TRIED & TESTED are authorised as safe to use, so this “it is still in trial” is total rubbish and being used as part of the anti-vax brigade to try and misguide people. You have a defense if vaccinated, you have protection to 75% + therefore protected.

You are going to look very silly when all this comes out! The FDA that issue all medications cert, has not approved any of these so called vaccines. But hey, you just believe what you want to believe, but the truth always outs in the end! Have a good day.

And yet still the lockdown continues, so why bother getting vaccinated at all if freedoms aren’t given back?

Because some people haven’t had it yet. It’s not complicated really is it.

It’s because we are waiting for the majority to be vaccinated, once this happens things will improve, this is why the road map is in place ,don’t forget this is a global pandemic not seen by anyone before .
Look at the EU slow with the roll-out and now have a 3rd wave more death’s occurring and more infections.
We don’t want that here.
Vaccination helps prevent death’s and serious illness.

Testing took many years because of restrictions in finance, people working hours and levels of employment. Covid has had unlimited finances, experts working around the clock, many more teams and experts available and in fact, have tested more people and put in more test hours than most vaccines including the flu jab.

I saw a large group of Chinese today. I assume they’re here from the mainland – a College or Uni? Presume not direct from China. There was also a large group of Germans out walking and lost studying maps. Traffic to Newport was stationary aling Fairlee Road this morning. It’s certainly busy out this weekend!
