MONSTER MEDWAY WILL SPEND MORE TIME BEHIND BARS FOR HORRIFIC CHILD SEX ATTACKS

Graham Medway, who is already serving 9 years behind bars for the rape of a 3-year-old girl, has been handed a 6 year prison sentence and a 2-year extension to his existing sentence for sickening attacks on other children, including a young girl who was asleep in a holiday caravan in Shanklin.

64-year-old Medway, formerly of Edinburgh Road in Freshwater, was last year jailed for the opportunistic rape of a toddler, as previously reported by Island Echo. The rape occurred in broad daylight on 31st August 2020 at Fort Victoria Country Park near Yarmouth.

Article continues below this advertisement

Shockingly, it emerged back in August that some 6 years prior to that horrific rape, Monster Medway carried out another attack on a child in the same woodland – and before that attacked a girl at a caravan park in Shanklin.

In June 2013, at Languard Holiday Park in Shanklin, Medway reached in through a caravan window and undid the zipper on a sleeping child’s onesie. He told the young girl he would hurt her if she didn’t comply with his demands. The girl managed to pinch Medway’s hand.

15 months after that incident, in September 2014, Medway is said to have approached another young girl – also under the age of 13 – at Fort Victoria and forced his hands inside her leggings. The young girl was playing in the woods with her brother when she became separated from him and fell into the hands of Medway.

It is also now known that Medway exposed himself to a 6-year-old girl on no fewer than 5 occasions between 2017 and 2020.

Article continues below this advertisement

Medway pleaded guilty to 2 counts of assault on a girl under 13 by touching and 2 counts of exposure on 30th August, with the case sent up to the Crown Court for sentencing today (Tuesday).

At today’s hearing, His Honour Judge Richard Shepherd handed down a 6-year prison sentence with a 2-year extension to Medway’s existing 9-year sentence. The extension was in acknowledgement of Medway’s dangerousness as an offender.

Detective Inspector Damian Glendenning said:

“We are grateful to all of the victims who have shown such bravery throughout this investigation. It is because of their courage that we have secured these convictions against Medway.

“I want the public to be reassured that we take all sexual offence and child sex abuse allegations incredibly seriously. We encourage people to continue reporting information to the police about this type of offending so we can target perpetrators and safeguard vulnerable people.”

The investigation was carried out by the Operation Marmion team, who tackle non-recent child sex abuse perpetrated within an institution or by a person of prominence.

Beyond belief that he is so lucky he lives here, for if he lived anywhere else the men folk of the poor children he has abused would have found him by now and dealt with him in a more effective way of him ever doing such again.

Seems people are in one breath saying the law is too weak, yet they seem too afraid to tackle injustice themselves for ‘fear’ of the law.

Seems Islander’s prefer to trust to God, Karma or some other ‘never going to happen’ wishful thinking cop out non punishment.

This should be the moment when the prison officers turn a blind eye to any prisoners that detest scum like him and deal out their own retribution. Castration at the very least. Dirty inhuman bastard.

So he was handed “a 2-year extension to his existing sentence”.

Which we all know would equate to just 1 extra year in prison, so long as he behaves himself and doesn’t be so rapey in that time, which he won’t do as the prison population isn’t his type.

Pathetic sentence.

Detective Inspector Damian Glendenning:

“I want the public to be reassured that we take all sexual offence and child sex abuse allegations incredibly seriously.”

Unfortunately the judge in this case does not share your same sentiment.

The judge had to follow sentencing guidelines. If he had done otherwise Medway would have appealed, costing the taxpayer £1000s, almost certainly winning and getting an even lighter sentence than he has now.

These are the people you should be complaining about as they are the ones who decide on the guidelines:

https://www.sentencingcouncil.org.uk/sentencing-and-the-council/about-the-sentencing-council/sentencing-council/

If you think the sentence in this case is too light ( I believe it is ) then write to them at their complaints email address (on the website).

I have.

What I find confusing/bad is that the sentence of 8 years was not added to when his current term finishes. Why does it have to be concurrent? That is so wrong. I understand if all offences were comitted about the same time. But this was years ago.

I agree. The sentence should have been consecutive given the nature of his offences.

I’m sorry I think that’s a poor decision by the judge to nor run the sentence consecutive so he had another 8 years after he completed his nine years not 2 years more . The crimes he committed I find that decision very poor

I am surprised they are even considering letting him out he needs to remain behind bars indefinitely as leopards never change their spots. Due to the number of senseless killings in the last decade I honestly believe the death penalty should be brought back. They are releasing far too many evil people due to the prison service not being able to cope with the numbers they are all ready holding. We need a stronger deterrent to prevent any crime as the soft approach of the prison service is achieving nothing, in fact some even commit crime to have a nice warm place with food cooked for them and “facilities” to enjoy for the colder months.

Is it time to reopen a debate about capital punishment for crimes such as this? Surely it would be difficult for anyone, any sane person, to argue against it? Human Rights don’t apply when the person has proved themselves to be inhuman.

There is one very good argument against it. Miscarriages of justice do happen. You can release someone who has been wrongly imprisoned. You cannot un-execute someone.

The most tragic example is that of Sally Clark. Convicted in November 1999 for the murder of her children based, largely, on the evidence of the now discredited Prof Sir Roy Meadows. She was given a life sentence with howls from people, like you, calling for her death.

She was released on appeal in 2003, after suffering abuse and attacks in prison because she was a “baby killer”, when Meadows’ evidence was shown to be completely incorrect.

She never recovered from the experience and drank herself to death in 2007.

Agree with your comments but when it is shown 100% that murder or child abuse was undertaken on all areas of evidence then the death penalty is a deterrent. Just the knowledge that the death penalty is a possibility is a deterrent for some to think before they act.

But Meadows, a supposedly renowned expert witness, did “show 100%” to that two children had been murdered.

Put yourself in the position of Sally Clark. Now imagine yourself going to the gallows knowing you are innocent.

No great, is it?

There is also the little issue about what people will do if they think they will be executed if the Police catch them. They will do absolutely anything to escape as they have nothing to lose.

I would honestly execute things like this for free and never ever lose one nights sleep over it.

The sentence is almost as disgusting as he is. But it is because our prisons are filled with the worlds dross that judges know they can’t give any longer sentences for our growing number of home grown low life now.
