An incident that saw a large police presence on a busy road in Ryde last night (Saturday) was a result of a man shouting in the street with a knife in his hand.
Multiple police vehicles, including 2 unmarked cars, were called to the scene on Melville Street at around 18:16 yesterday evening after someone reported that a man, with a knife in his hand, was shouting in the street.
A 59-year-old man from Ryde was arrested at the scene on suspicion of affray.
It has been confirmed that he is still in police custody at this time.
UPDATE MONDAY – 59-year-old Mark Saurin has now been charged with 2 offences and remanded in custody.

I am sure that many many parents have had to watch their beautiful, totally innocent non drug or alcohol abusing children, being taken from them by selfish, ignorant beings who have abused their minds with KNOWN mind altering substances too.
Whilst I truly pity the loss for you, I find most of my genuine sympathy is with those who do, do the right thing in life, only to have their life, or innocents taken away by those who CHOOSE to knowingly break the law and then expect the rest of society to rally around their shattered minds despite them, whilst attaining that state, running many decent peoples lives.

Perhaps, our council, like our schools do, may receive more state funding for each odd person they install into one of their abodes?

So, unless our own commit worse crimes than they, which is rare, then long jails terms will never again happen, so with the deterrent gone, it will only ever get worse here now, as it is getting already.

The police will only get want they want if they do as the council says, this council is so corrupt, if you turned it into a book or film, absolutely no one would think it was possible to get away with even a quarter of what this lot are up to. Good point. They ignore it and hope it goes away, have done for years. Most people would rather have safer, quieter streets than new buildings or renovated old ones. Buildings are just buildings, but the cess pit widens.
Problem being planners, developers, top ex councillors and the myriad of hangers on cannot make easy money from improved law and order, yet they can by building contracts.
Hence more of our cash is wasted where it benefits them, not us, the most.

Simply the benefits are so great now, even more so is as many do they fake mental health issues which gives them disability payments as well as subsidised rent and council tax.

I cannot believe why everyone has been so wound up by a single incident by a single person who may or may be not have a drug/mentalheath/alcohol issue, it is not like it is an event that has never occured on the island before, perhaps like a number of the contribiutors, the heat got to him. As for those that suggest that every criminal not born on the island is deported back to the mainland never to return, that works both ways and if inacted we would inherit far more and far worse criminals.
