As campaigning closes in the 2024 General Election, Labour’s Emily Brothers has set out her ‘intent to secure positive change’ should she become the first Member of Parliament for Isle of Wight East. She said:
“Isle of Wight East is on a knife edge between Conservative and Labour. It is too close to call. Consistent polling throughout the election demonstrates that no other party has a route to win the seat. Polling clearly evidences that I am the only progressive candidate who can secure positive change. “Thousands of voters have still to make up their minds. That’s why I’m still meeting with residents in towns and villages across Isle of Wight East to set out my local priorities and Labour’s ambition for positive change. My offer is a set of local policies aligned to Labour’s national programme for Government. Our missions for economic growth, an NHS fit for purpose, transition to clean energy, safer streets and breaking down barriers to opportunity, bringing together a plan for positive change. Only with Labour can we fix broken Britain and get our Island’s future back. “My utmost priority is on Isle of Wight East, focusing on community wealth creation to make local people and businesses who are currently struggling feel better off. This includes addressing unaffordable and unreliable cross Solent travel, tackling the cost of living crisis and encouraging investment to regenerate our derelict town centres. “Working with local leaders, I will help shape an Island Pact to secure additional resources needed to deliver public services on our Island. I will collaborate with local councils and statutory agencies to improve resilience and identify solutions to landslips, flooding and coastal erosion. “The Conservative candidate is pretending not to be Conservative, abdicating responsibility from their abysmal record in Government. Whilst their sense of entitlement is palpable, I approach polling day knowing that in a democracy the power of the vote, the power of the decision, is rightly in the hands of local people. “Don’t forget when you go to vote how they have ruled – Partygate, dodgy covid contracts and now Gamble gate, the insider betting scandal. Always one rule for them and another for everyone else. Something has to change and that begins with you, seizing the opportunity by making an active choice by voting for positive change. “If you vote Conservative, support a fringe party or don’t vote at all – nothing will change. However, I am intent on securing positive change for Residents living in Isle of Wight East. I want local people and businesses to move on from fourteen years of division, chaos and failure with a changed Labour Party represented in Isle of Wight East by a progressive change-maker. “If given the privilege to serve, I will get to work on our first steps including restoring economic stability and cutting NHS waiting lists. Labour has a plan to enable our NHS to recover to full health; to reverse the doom loop of low growth and high tax; to build affordable homes for working people. Together, we can stop the chaos, turn the page and start to rebuild. “We need a clear mandate and a strong Government to make change happen. If you vote Labour, the work for progressive change for the better begins for Isle of Wight East and across Britain. Positive change for a brighter future. “Progressive solutions will only be realised by making change happen by voting Labour. For our island, for our country – vote Emily Brothers for Isle of Wight East, for positive change.”
No thanks, we don’t need rainbow flag waving idiots here.
Labour are commies, they want an NHS and free school meals!
That’s socialism. Just saying. You build a strong nation from the ground up. We’re all born equal and we all die equal. Perhaps we ought to live equal too?
Certainly not. Dyed in the wool bigots only, please.
We don’t want you here. You’re not from the Island and are just a career politician that has miserably failed in other constituencies.
VOTE REFORM. Time for change.
A vote for Deform is a vote for the far right. Intolerance of all that don’t look or sound like white British. Racist and bigoted are terms used by their own candidates to describe themselves.
Voting for Deform is a disservice to our country.
Just to educate you, because you clearly need educating, the overwhelming majority of Reform supporters like myself are NOT racist in anyway whatsoever. It is a deeply offensive comment that is banded about willy nilly by uneducated moronic fools like yourself.
We have quite simply just had enough of our country being destroyed by the previous Tory & Labour governments, and being continuously lied to by both of them. We want a change and that is why a very large proportion of people will be voting Reform UK
If you’re not racist, don’t vote for a party that has been exposed this very week as racist? Two of its candidates have defected to the Tories in the last few days.
But, you’d vote, presumably, for a party which has shown itself to be inherently anti-semitic, anti-Jew?
Many people would consider that equally racist, or do you find it acceptable because it’s against Jewish people?
does that include Labour & The Greens who have been anti-semitic?
Those two candidates have been proved to be plants, planted by Labour. You must keep up with the truth.
Only a Racist would vote Reform, it will be interesting to see
how many racists vote Reform.
So why is France now voting for the far right? The rest of Europe will soon follow whist the UK is in the doldrums with a Left Liebour government.
Is this proof that Caulkheads are racist to mainlanders,
yet alone our dinghy companions, hence them voting Reform.
Racist uneducated B’stards
No Wayne the brain we are certainly not. But if it is your deluded belief that all Islanders are Racist uneducated B’stards, then why don’t f*** off nob ed.
I’d rather stay. Thick uneducated Caulkheads make me laugh
You’ll be spoilt for choice on these pages
well said, vote Reform!
You mean new ukip. Nationalist conservatives. Pass.
Why don’t you Fcuk off, the island does not
need racist B’stards
All Labour keep saying is they have a plan but what the hell is the plan !
They have published a very detailed manifesto
But that involves reading more than headlines
To not be a Tory cunt mate. That’s plan enough.
Does anyone remember the last time labour was in power. Our mortgage interest rates went up to 15%. Be warned
And I remember 17% under Thatcher in 1989 and 15% in 1992 under Major, oh they were both conservatives.
That was because of the IMF
Check you facts. The last time mortgage rates were 15% was in 1992 in response to the withdrawal from the Exchange Rate Mechanism and the Conservative Government had been in power for years.
If this was written by Artificial Intelligence then it was such a load of old rhetoric I think the programmer should be fired, If it was written by a real person then they can look forward to, at best, a “career” in local journalism.
It cannot at any stage really have come from the mouth of a politician… no, really, it’s a puppet (but we know that as I saw Blair’s lips move).
Emily says they are a proud Scouser,
Typical proud Scousers don’t live in Liverpool.
They are not wanted or welcome on the Isle of Wight,(They as in Emily Brothers, not scousers in general)why are you not campaigning in Liverpool??
I’m sure that is a safe Labour seat?
???????????????????????????????????????
New to the keyboard are we?
Everyone is welcome on the Isle of Wight
We live in a free country
Idiot
No no no! Lots of people aren’t welcome here, immigrants, poor people, families or mainlanders. Pleased vote Reform to keep our Island white and pure.
‘Meet my wife and sister’
Obviously another island Caulkhead who is racist.
Plenty of them on this uneducated island.
No they are not jacob – we don’t want the worlds filth here, we don’t want dinghy people here and we certainly don’t want people who seem to think that born and bred islanders views don’t matter.
Let the Dinghy’s enter our shores, Brexit enabled this,
all the persons who voted Brexit caused the influx, and these
are the same muppets who will be voting Deform
Ha Ha Ha
Lol
You will find that it was the EU that encouraged open borders.
Sorry Mr/Mrs Idiot.that obviously didn’t have an education, this country hasn’t been a free country for many years,
I’m assuming you signed off your totally fake response with your name.
It must think Islanders are stupid to believe the rubbish it spouts. Understandable I suppose, when you’ve only lived here for five minutes!
exactly – brothers turned up here and talks of local connections – it doesn’t have any and would be better off back in liverpool
Why all this talk of ‘our Island’?
Where does Emily Brothers actually live? Stood for election in Sutton and Cheam at a previous election.
Emily Brothers live in Sandown. She is a town councillor in Sandown. She stood in a previous general election nine years ago.
not an islander and seems to move around the country trying to find a town gullible enough to vote it in.
clearly sandown are mugs
They couldn’t find an islander who was capable passing the political proficiency test, mainly because they are either illiterate or dumb (or both).
Well, I voted for her. Proudly. I can’t stand conservatives. They have no redeemable attributes. They’ve made an utter shambles of the last 14 years and I just hope labour can fix enough of their mess to secure a second term and beyond. I truly hate conservatives, they should be ashamed. Disgusting little people.
you obviously aren’t old enough to remember the Blair and Brown governments, they weren’t good year’s either.
