As first reported by Island Echo, the Police helicopter was used to help track the suspect, who is said to have picked the 18-year-old woman up from Sandown High Street in a Vauxhall van on Friday morning. Police say the woman was then taken to an area near Old Blackgang Road in Niton.
Finch has been remanded in custody and will appear before the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court tomorrow morning (Monday).
He has also been charged with 3 offences relating to grooming and exploitation of children.
UPDATE MONDAY – The accused, Kevin Finch, now of no fixed abode, appeared before the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court this morning where he was remanded in custody.
The 35-year-old landscaper has been charged with kidnap, rape and causing grievous bodily harm. The court also detailed that he has been charged with 2 counts of arranging to meet a person under the age of 16 following grooming and also creating a fake Facebook profile with the intention of meeting young girls for sexual activity.
Mr Finch will now appear before the Isle of Wight Crown Court on Monday 7th November.
