Leader of the Isle of Wight Council, Phil Jordan, has dramatically lost his seat in Ryde North West, as local businessman Reuben Loake clinches the win for Reform UK.
Phil Jordan has been a prominent figure in Isle of Wight politics for more than a decade, having first been elected as an Independent councillor in 2013. But his time on the Isle of Wight Council has now come to an end, with an embarrassing loss.
The electorate has voted, with Phil Jordan securing just 255 votes, coming 3rd to Reform’s Reuben Loake with a total of 401 votes and Green’s Peter Burke in 2nd with 339 votes.
Mr Loake is a well-known local businessman, running isleofwightjobs.com. He lives in the ward.
Today’s result means there will now be a new Leader of the Isle of Wight Council, no matter what happens elsewhere on the Island and who secures a majority.
Mr Jordan was elected Leader of the Isle of Wight Council in September 2023.

Oh dear how sad.
No more will we have to be embarrassed that our council leader is a convicted drunk driver
Was it really necessary to mention that at this juncture? It is hardly relevant and sounds horribly spiteful.
Completely irrelevant
Not before time either.
Wonder what the two outlier Conservative Councillors will do now that their Party is demonstrable finished?
Whatever, it will not worry Bill Nigh the leader elect of IWCouncil.
Good Riddance!
Should’ve gone when he was convicted.
Ventnor just voted for a convict also, can only assume they have been mis informed there can be no other reason to vote for cllr Blake otherwise

He did you idiot
[…] COUNCIL LEADER PHIL JORDAN OUSTED AS REFORM CLINCH RYDE NORTH WEST […]
Voting does work then, go home and have a drink Jordan, just don’t drive afterwards. Good riddance.
Completely irrelevant
Good….about time…. no loss….long overdue
Long overdue shame the remainder did not go,them have done nothing for the Island apart from constantly increasing increasing council tax whist every year increasing there expenses. We should have been voting to have had council of half the size there for saving us,the council tax payers, money
Let’s hope you will be standing for election next time
I will say one thing regarding this story and I will not point fingers of blame at individuals, but if people are pleased that Mr Jordan will now be ousted as council leader, just be careful what you wish for, as it could all get much worse than it already is.
Mr Jordan does have valuable experience.
Be interesting to see how Island Roads operates now its lost the hand that feeds.
What are you talking about
Thanks Phil for 13 years of work for this council and the Isle of Wight, enjoy your retirement
Well said, people are quick to mock Phil.
I would like to see them try and do what Phil had to do.
Let him enjoy his retirement and well deserved pension.
