HM Coastguard, Yarmouth RNLI Lifeboat, Freshwater Independent Lifeboat and Police have been scrambled to an incident in the area of Tennyson Down, Freshwater this afternoon (Wednesday).
Coastguard Rescue 175 helicopter is currently circling Tennyson Down and Yarmouth RNLI’s All Weather Lifeboat has also made best speed to the area having been tasked to launch at around 13:05.
They have been joined on the scene by Freshwater Independent Lifeboat.
The Needles Coastguard Rescue Team and Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Team are also on scene. Police are reported to be in attendance at High Down Lane.
According to AIS tracking, the helicopter and lifeboats are currently positioned around halfway between Freshwater Bay and The Needles.
The Maritime Coastguard Agency (MCA) and Hampshire Constabulary have been approached for a statement.
UPDATE @ 15:50 – The body of a woman has been found at the base of Tennyson Down this afternoon.
