Island residents are up in arms over revelations that the Isle of Wight’s Domino’s stores have removed key products that are still available to those on the mainland, such as The Cheeseburger and Half & Half.
Several weeks ago the mighty Cheeseburger pizza disappeared from menus at Ryde, Newport and Shanklin with customers presuming that the special pizza had simply come to the end of its run. However, news has now been circulating social media that Domino’s do, in fact, still produce The Cheeseburger pizza – just not here…
1 local has explained how they were scrolling through Tiktok this week and saw a fresh Cheeseburger pizza featured in a video from Wales. Curious, they entered a mainland postcode and discovered that The Cheeseburger is still available!
Island Echo has checked multiple stores and has verified this to be the case.
It has also come to light that the Meteor pizza and Half & Half option, which disappeared during the pandemic, are also available on the mainland but not at any of the Isle of Wight’s 3 stores, for reasons unknown.
Speaking to Island Echo, 1 disgruntled customer has said:
“As usual us Islanders are treated differently to the rest of the country. What difference does a few miles of water make when cooking a takeaway pizza, why can’t we have the same options as everyone else?!”
It was only in April last year that Island Echo reported how East Cowes customers were blacklisted from ordering Dominos for delivery due to ‘moaning customers’.
In a statement, a spokesperson for Domino’s has said:
“From toppings to sides, choosing your favourite slice is one of the best parts of ordering a Domino’s. However, tastes vary across the country, so outside of our core products, stores are able to choose what pizzas they offer based on local tastes and what local customers are actually buying.”
Perhaps Domino’s Isle of Wight will change their mind… or perhaps The Cheeseburger has gone for good.

Perhaps if people walked/drove a bit further up Upper St James Street and crossed the road, they would find an outlet that sells fantastic pizzas and kebabs. My go to of choice, and the staff are special too. And a square pizza has more to eat than a round one of the same width.
Probably need the saved money to pay the insurance for their kamikaze delivery drivers.
Have they had a lot of insurance claims made against them for their delivery drivers then?
Hardly news, why are people paying up to 10x more than a supermarket equavalent?. Checks should be done at food banks etc as to how many takeouts families have and then plead poverty. I know one family that are happily spending out £140 + a week on take out yet are not paying rent and go to pantry and food bank. Expect not paying bills too .
Surprising how many of the self righteous have such in-depth knowledge of the habits of those less fortunate than themselves.
If is isn’t “They’re on benefits but keep ordering takeaways” it’ll be “I see them arriving at the food bank in new cars clutching the latest iPhone”.
I think that’s called stalking.
no, its called surveillance and it is what the benefits agency do, when they get reports of sponging lowlives defrauding the system.
You do not know a family that spend £140+ a week on takeaways and yet go to a food bank. You have 100% made that up yourself, or believed a rumour you’ve heard.
Assumed!!! it’s an Isle of Wight defect present in a lot of holier than tho Dns
Money spent on take outs saves the cost of going to the supermarket , keeping the food refrigerated, cooking it, washing up, etc. Could even be said to save the planet……
Over priced stodge anyway 🙁
Pizza is just overpriced cheese on toast. Make it yourself at home or, better still, make a proper meal and save a fortune.
I don’t have the recipe for how to make a Dominos tasting pizza or have the equipment to get it cooked that same way to give it the exact same texture as a Dominos pizza, but I really enjoy eating a pizza with the taste and texture of a Dominos pizza, especially with the garlic and herb dip. Therefore, every now and then as a treat, I will get a Dominos pizza.
This reads like an automated reply. Are you AI perhaps?
Eat what you want to eat but I can’t stand pizza and it seems like a total rip-off. Vive la difference.
Yep vive la difference. You didn’t seem to understand why someone would want to get a Dominos pizza, so I was just explaining
Go to any other country and Domino’s is the cheap option. My relies in Oz go there when they want a cheap takeaway as pizzas are not much more than £4. Cheaper than a Maccies.
It’s only this country where it is perceived as a premium outlet, they must be coining it in. Takes the pizz.
They really need new ownership or some standards. They quit delivery to East Cowes “because the people kept complaining”, but every time I’ve ordered they’ve forgotten something, missed toppings, providing a wrong item or something else and I live in Newport! You can hardly blame the people of an area if you keep getting things wrong.
I’ll be honest I’ve never had an issue with any dominos orders. So I guess we’ve all had different experiences of them and I don’t have the opinion they need new ownership or standards
Probably they’ve noticed how fat and lazy some Islanders are so they’re doing their bit to help the obesity crisis.
I spend time on island and time on mainland. Noticed last week that the Domino’s menu here is very restricted compared to mainland.
