A driver is being treated by paramedics after the vehicle they were driving rolled onto its side on a narrow quiet lane near Brading earlier this evening (Monday).
Emergency services are currently on scene at Lower Road, Adgestone, where a silver Mercedes-Benz A-Class has come to rest on its side.
The incident, involving only 1 vehicle, occurred at around 18:25, just a couple hundred metres from the junction with The Mall.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service has mobilised 2 fire appliances from Ryde and Sandown to the incident, with the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service deploying an ambulance crew, critical care paramedic and an operational commander.
Lower Road is currently blocked between Brading and the junction with Sheep Lane. Motorists are diverting via Upper Road.
Recovery of the vehicle has been arranged, made easier thanks to firefighters who have righted the small hatchback onto all 4 wheels.
UPDATE – Lower Road has now reopened following recovery of the vehicle.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary are expected to issue an update on Tuesday morning.
UPDATE TUESDAY – A 71-year-old woman has been charged with drink driving.
