WightSAR, the Island’s volunteer search and rescue team, were called to assist police with the search for the missing vulnerable man shortly before 13:00, as previously reported by Island Echo.
The National Police Air Service helicopter (NPAS) from Bristol has now been called to assist with the ongoing search.
Members of the public are being stopped by police, shown a photograph of the missing person and asked if they have seen the male in question.
Police have now issued an appeal and say they are growing increasingly concerned for his welfare. Anyone who may have seen Chris is asked to contact Police on 101.
Darren is described as:
- 6ft tall
- Medium build
- Possibly walking with a limp
He was last seen wearing a navy blue jacket, blue denim jeans and walking boots.

UPDATE @ 15:16 – The NPAS helicopter remains in the skies around the North of the Island this afternoon, with it widening its search area to as far as Fishbourne, Wootton and up the River Medina.
UPDATE @ 15:37 – Hampshire Constabulary has confirmed that missing Darren Clements has now been located.
