Calbourne Parish Council is to be renamed to better reflect the identities of the communities it serves.
A request from the parish council asking to officially change its name to Calbourne, Newtown and Porchfield Parish Council was approved on Wednesday by a meeting of the Isle of Wight Council.
While it was already commonly known as ‘Calbourne, Newtown and Porchfield’ parish council, the Isle of Wight Council could only formally adopt the new name following a consultation.
The new title, agreed by Full Council, does not affect any other aspect of the running of the parish council and all existing wards and elected members remain as they are.
Newport Parish Council was recently changed to Newport and Carisbrooke Parish Council following a similar process.

What a ridiculous waste of money !
What a waste.
If the locals wanted it changed l3et them pay no through our council tax.
Get rid of councillors & vote someone in who has the b*lls to say no more.
“A consultation”
i.e a huge pay day for someone, probably a relative of the person who agreed there should be a consultation
That’s old school Isle of Wight stuff!
