UPDATED: Police have erected a cordon surrounding an alleyway and a car park behind the Commodore Cinema in Ryde this morning (Sunday).
Officers are guarding both entrance ways to the secluded area off George Street and Star Street as a result of a serious incident overnight – thought to be an assault.
Island Echo has been told that a weapon may have been used in the incident, which is said have occurred late last night and into the early hours of this morning.
UPDATE @ 10:53 – Forensic investigators have arrived in the heart of Ryde this morning and have begun collecting evidence from the scene.
A trail of blood has been left on a length of driveway leading to the car park.
UPDATE @ 11:37 – It has been confirmed that a 48-year-old man has sustained serious injuries to his leg and arm.
