ARREST MADE FOLLOWING DISCOVERY OF SERIOUSLY INJURED MAN IN RYDE

UPDATED: Police have arrested a 34-year-old man on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent after another man was found with cuts to his leg and arm in Ryde last night (Saturday).

As first reported by Island Echo, a cordon has been erected around the rear of Commodore Cinema off George Street as forensic investigators examine the scene. A trail of blood can be seen on a section of driveway leading into the secluded car park.

The 48-year-old casualty is being treated in hospital for serious but not life-threatening injuries after being found in the heart of the town at just before midnight.

The 34-year-old accused, from Binstead, remains in Police custody.

UPDATE MONDAY – A 44-year-old man from Ryde has also been arrested in connection with the incident, but he has been released from custody.

The 34-year-old man from Binstead has also been released from custody, but both men remain under investigation.
