Police are appealing for the public’s help in locating missing 64-year-old Gillian Burns from Bembridge, who hasn’t been seen since last night (Sunday).
A multi-agency search has been activated in a bid to find Gillian, whose bicycle has been discovered on a bridleway off Peacock Hill to the north of Culver Down, as previously reported by Island Echo.
She was last seen at her home address in the village at 22:00 last night, with today’s search launched at 10:00 this morning. It’s only now that the public’s help is being sought.
Police have been joined on the ground by WightSAR volunteers and Coastguard Rescue Teams from Bembridge and Ventnor, with search teams battling the elements.
Earlier today Sandown & Shanklin Independent Lifeboat conducted a shoreline search around the base of Culver, from Yaverland to Whitecliff Bay.
Gillian is described as white, 5ft 2in tall with medium-length ginger hair. She is believed to be wearing glasses, dark blue jeans, black trainers and dark blue short-length raincoat.
