The Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance has been scrambled to Ventnor this lunchtime, alongside a number of other emergency services, where a person has been rescued from the sea.
It is believed that a male was spotted in the choppy waters near to the Bandstand and was brought ashore by a local fishing vessel shortly before 13:00.
Emergency services including the Enhanced Care Paramedic and an operational commander from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service responded have responded to the Esplanade, with Coastguard Rescue Teams from Ventnor and Bembridge also tasked to the scene.
CPR is underway.
The Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance, which was scrambled from its Thruxton base near Andover, has landed off Dudley Road.
The All Weather Lifeboat from Bembridge was also tasked to the incident, but has since headed back to station having been stood down.
Officers from Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary are also at the scene as investigations into the incident begin.
UPDATE @ 14:23 – Emergency services are now standing down from the incident, with the air ambulance taking off from Dudley Road.
UPDATE @ 15:40 – Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has confirmed that a male in his 40s has been pronounced dead at the scene.
