VIDEO: 4 TEENS ARRESTED AND 1 HOSPITALISED AFTER VILLAGE PARTY

A teenager has been hospitalised and 4 others have been arrested after a party in the sleepy village of Wellow got out of hand last night (Friday).

Police were called at 22:20 to reports of an unexpectedly large number of people attending a party on Main Road. Officers attended the scene and remained there until the incident, which was contained to a single address, was resolved.

A Co-Responder, local paramedics and an ambulance officer were also mobilised to the scene in Wellow, as previously reported.

Island Echo understands that the party was taking place in a barn belonging to a respected member of the community who was throwing a bash for their teenage son.

According to Police, a 16-year-old boy suffered a cut to his head during last night’s incident. The youngster was conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital for treatment. Island Echo is told by sources that other youngsters were also injured in the incident, including a teenage girl who has required stitches to her head.

The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service have confirmed they mobilised 2 ambulances and an officer to the scene, with 2 people taken to hospital and other teenagers in drink treated at the scene.

Hampshire Constabulary have confirmed that 4 teenagers – 3 boys and a girl – have been arrested in connection with this incident. It is alleged by those at the party last night that officers used their CS spray to subdue individuals.

  • A 17-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and obstructing a constable in execution of their duty. He remains in custody at Newport Police Station at this time.
  • A second 17-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer. He also remains in custody at this time.
  • A 17-year-old girl has been arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer and she remains in custody at this time.
  • An 18-year-old boy was arrested and later given a conditional caution for being drunk and disorderly in public.

Drugs and drink, and males competing for an easy lay.

Doubt it was an argument over whether we should remain in the EU.

Give them a kicking when in Police van and send them home with a fine. Sorted

Well that won’t look good on there records for later in life. Perhaps this will help them to grow up a bit. Perhaps could be made to do some work to help put things right instead of a police record as could be a silly 1off

This article is not written very well. Which is why people are assuming it’s about the police only. This party was at a top surgeon’s home. It was his sons party. The father was in. I had a call at 10 pm to say my daughter had a severe head wound due to someone throwing a bottle at her. The surgeon denied this. And took my daughter to the hospital. Once I arrived. Video’s were being shown from the party of teenagers fighting with batons. 6 children were admitted to hospital. As well as my daughter. Not one. A and E were overloaded by the influx of teenagers arriving by ambulance. The severity of this incident has been played down. Parents need to be made aware of how violent their children were at this party. My daughter is extremely traumatised by her injury and is unable to go to work or college until her stitches are removed. If it wasn’t for her good friends ringing me and 111 this could have been worse. The police arrived in time. As the surgeon chose to ignore me when I asked him to stop the gathering as it appeared to be getting out of hand. He also left my daughter at the hospital and failed to contact me again.

Doesn’t surprise me in the slightest regards the surgeons non actions and how rude he has been to ignore you! Shame on the man to be sat indoors whilst all that was going on! Speechless.
I do hope your daughter is ok as I’m sure she will be with a caring mum to look after her.

This is heartbreaking to read and can vouch for the sheer numbers. Dozens does not describe it and I just hope that the right and proper action will be taken against those whom are at the heart of this.

it may well have been a private party but the surgeon should have not let alcohol be allowed as they were all under the legal age to drink if they bought it it should have been taken off them when they came in its obvious what would happen

The legal age to drink is 5+. So they’re all above the legal drinking age, not the age to buy or attempt to buy alcohol however.

Surly if you have under age drinking at a private party the owners should be held responsible for there welfare and safety of everyone. With all those teenages and no proper adult supervision mixed with drink what the hell did they think was going to happen

Do any of you people who are quick to judge & comment personally know the residents of this property??? Knowing what teenagers are like it’s all too easy to blame the parents! People in glass houses & all that…if the scum bag gate crashers who were NOT invited hadn’t turned up I’m pretty sure it all would have been fine! & let’s not forget that papers print dramatized events not always the whole truth!

That’s why there should of been some sensible adults there to let them enjoy but be safe

Absolutely agree with your comment, my daughter was at the party which was meant to be a small gathering for friends – unfortunately thanks to social media it was heavily gatecrashed and sadly got out of control. Had this not happened I’m quite sure all would have been fine. This could have happened to any parent, I find all this blaming of the parent ridiculous and wholly unfair. I feel desperately sorry for the owners of the property in wellow where the party was – every parents worst nightmare this kind of thing happening. Finger pointing, naming and blaming is petty and unnecessary. Well done to the police for their actions and big support to the family involved.

Get a grip! It got out of hand like most good parties do! Kids will be kids, & let’s face it the ones who got in trouble or hurt may not be telling the whole truth of what happened or how things started!!!

Absolutely disgusting behaviour by kids and the adults. Should be made to pay for emergency

Strange parents never take responsibility when there is trouble with children. Obviously a party for spoilt brats
who are incapable of holding their lemon squash.

A respected member of the community is responsible for this?
A top surgeon?? He initiated this and allowed under-age drinking?
He didn’t monitor the situation thereby allowing drug toting gate-crashers?
That’s the real culprit, right there!

jeez talk about over reaction – snowflakes are us.

it has never, ever been any different – teenagers, first proper parties, first proper over the top drinking and maybe some other intoxicants to increase the confidence and indestructible feelings – sure combination for it to kick off.

We used to brush it off, clean our selves up and then we just carried on drinking, smoking, dancing etc. or effed off to another all nighter somewhere else if it had gone off a bit much and we weren’t allowed back in!

Having gone to the private school, I’ve known plenty of wealthy parents who have allowed their teenage offspring free use of their large detached house in beautiful areas when they’ve gone away on long weekends and even loaded it up with booze and condoms for them.

It’s this strange mindset that they want their kids to act like spoiled, wild brats.

Hard to understand if you haven’t experienced it but sadly not uncommon on the Island.

Money can’t buy you class…

I wonder how many other incidents that night had a longer response time due to emergency services all being tied up baby sitting peoples spoiled brats? The party organiser is responsible here, bill him for the expenses, don’t ask me to pay towards this nonsense out of my taxes.
