A 20-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent following a serious assault in Ryde last night (Monday).
Police were called to John Street at just before 19:30 following reports of a serious assault, as first reported by Island Echo.
On arrival, officers located a 35-year-old man with ‘laceration injuries’. It’s understood the victim was ‘bottled’ around the head.
A cordon was established around the crime scene with blood seen trailed along the pavement. The cordon has since been lifted.
The casualty was taken to St Mary’s Hospital by ambulance for treatment. His injuries are not life-threatening.
Hampshire Constabulary have confirmed that a 20-year-old man from Ryde has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent. He remains in custody at this time.
