A woman has been detained under the mental health act following an incident at the Travelodge Hotel in Newport this afternoon (Friday).
Officers were alerted to a developing situation at the hotel on Lugley Street in the town, close to the junction with Mill Street, at 12:30.
Paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service also responded to the scene.
Hampshire Constabulary has confirmed that the force was alerted to a report of criminal damage in a room at the Travelodge.
