A woman has this afternoon been airlifted from Bembridge after badly injuring her ankle.

Solent Coastguard were called shortly before 13:30 by the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service to perform a medivac after receiving a 999 call from a woman who had fallen and injured her ankle.

Due to the remote location near to Bembridge Windmill, the assistance of Rescue 104 was requested to take the woman to Seaclose Park landing site, Newport, where she has been transferred to a land ambulance for treatment at St Mary’s Hospital.

Coastguard personnel were on the scene at Seaclose for scene safety.
