The driver of a Vauxhall Vectra has caused significant damage to items of street furniture on the main road in and out of East Cowes this lunchtime (Monday).
Police are currently on scene at Whippingham, where a car has wiped out a large lamp post and other items on the central reservation, close to the junction with Folly Lane.
The top half of the lamp post has become wedged under the front of a Kia travelling in the opposite direction.
3 Police cars are on scene with traffic being directed in all directions.
There are slight delays in the area.

Island echo you sure it wasn’t a white kia picanto?
That’s what the report says… read it again… ” The top half of the lamp post has become wedged under the front of a Kia travelling in the opposite direction”
Back to normal, another single vehicle accident !!
Speed again
Least it wasn’t heroin lol
another numpty not giving due concentration to driving.
Perhaps the driver had a sudden illness, or the car blew a tyre, or the surprise of seeing the sun was too much of a surprise.
Phil is likely soon to be on the case. He really ought to be an accident investigator, no need then to close the road as a form of punishment for hours as we endure now.
Or maybe he was reaching for a mobile?
More bad driving on the I o w
Does anyone ever get prosecuted over the accidents as iv never see or hear anymore of what happened
Was this the black Vauxhall chav from Shanklin who thinks it can park wherever it wants?
