Firefighters from Ryde and Shanklin have tackled a vehicle fire off East Yar Road in Sandown this afternoon (Wednesday).
2 appliances were mobilised to a scaffolding compound between Sandown Fire Station and Southern Water’s treatment plant at around 14:45.
The first crew on scene, from Shanklin, discovered the front of a Ford Transit van well alight with smoke billowing into the sky, which could be seen from far around.
The blaze has now been extinguished and both crews have returned to their home station.
The cause of the fire is unknown, but it started in the engine bay.
No one has been injured.
