An individual that took a turn at a doctors surgery in Shanklin has been airlifted to a mainland hospital by the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance this afternoon (Thursday).
Paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service requested the assistance of the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service to move the unnamed patient from the doctors into an awaiting ambulance.
At around 13:15 the air ambulance touched down at the nearby Sandown Airport to rendezvous with the local ambulance crew. Firefighters from Shanklin also attended the RV point at the airport but were then released from the incident.
The individual has now been airlifted to Southampton General Hospital.
