Firefighters from Shanklin and Ventnor have extinguished 2 small fires in undergrowth at the rear of Ventnor Botanic Gardens this evening (Sunday).
2 appliances and a water carrier have attended the scene between Steephill Cove and Orchard Bay.
A hose reel has been utilised to dowse the flames and damp down the 2 affected areas close to the coastal path.
The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service is now standing down from the incident. They were first alerted at around 17:00.
I expects the kiddies are disappointed they can’t go there to play for free now. Shame was nice place for families.
Yes I agree. The outer areas are a mess now they’re not looked after like they used to be. Wouldn’t know about the rest as I refuse to pay to go in. That place was a big loss when it was bought by the current owners. I used to regularly take my kids there when they were little it was lovely
