UPDATED: 2 teenagers have been arrested outside McDonalds in Newport this afternoon (Monday) – the latest incident of anti social behaviour in the town.
Police have taken to the streets in the area of St James’ Street and South Street where 2 teenage girls are reported to have been arrested and carted off in the back of a Police van.
It is understood that an operation to disperse large groups from the area has been undertaken by Hampshire Constabulary today.
It comes just a day after 4 young persons were arrested on suspicion of causing danger to road users and criminal damage.
Island residents have taken to Facebook to comment on the current spate of anti social behaviour in and around the town by groups of youths, with calls for something to be done before someone is seriously injured.
UPDATE – It has been confirmed that whilst a number of individuals were moved on from the area by Police, no arrests were made.
