Swimmer George Hayward has taken the Isle of Wight’s 6th gold medal on Day 6 of the Orkney Island Games in the 100metres backstroke.
Earlier in the week, George bagged silver in the 50metres backstroke.
Swimming from lane 4, George completed the 100metres in a time of 55.61seconds, 0.4seconds ahead of silver medallist Will Sellars from the Caymen Islands and 0.42seconds ahead of the Isle of Man’s Harry Robinson, who took bronze.
The Isle of Wight remain in 7th spot in the Medal Table with 14 podium places: 6 gold, 2 silver and 6 bronze. The Faroe Islands lead the table with 29 golds, followed by Jersey with 25, then the Isle of Man and Guernsey with 15 golds apiece.
