Bembridge RNLI’s inshore lifeboat launched following reports of a swimmer and 2 kayakers in difficulty off Forelands earlier this evening (Wednesday).
The lifeboat was launched at around 18:40 at the request of Solent Coastguard with Bembridge Coastguard Rescue Team also tasked to the scene.
Having carried out 4 line searches between the Lifeboat Station and Black Rock without spotting anyone in trouble, the inshore lifeboat was released. The crew returned to Lane End and the boat was recovered by 19:15.
Bembridge Coastguard Rescue Team conducted a beach search with similar results.
A member of the public confirmed to Coastguard Officers that the individuals made it ashore.
