UPDATED: Bosses of the Wightlink Warriors’ speedway team say they are ‘totally heartbroken’ after a number of buildings were broken into at Smallbrook Stadium in Ryde overnight.
The club’s track shop, headquarters building and referees box have all been broken into, alongside the local cricket club’s outbuilding. However, so far it seems nothing has been taken.
The ‘mindless vandalism’ is said to have caused ‘shameful destruction’.
Police have been notified of the incident and officers are now reviewing CCTV footage in a bid to identify those behind the break-ins, which are thought to have taken place sometime between yesterday and today.
UPDATE @ 18:40 – Sadly, it has been discovered that communication equipment, keys and other vital organisational equipment has been stolen from Smallbrook Stadium.
Island Echo understands a ‘rave’ was held in a field close to the stadium last night.
